Friday, Jan. 16th, all high school basketball players were suppose to go to Kweth. But the weather that day was bad, well not really, it was just freezing rain. The planes weren't flying that day, because the weather in Bethel was ugly, couple minutes after we heard that the planes were cancelled the coach of HS boys and girls figured out what to do for the ball players. Around 1 something they announced that we were going to be playing in Akula, and told us to be ready around 6. Hours passed, we were here watching the JR high playing against Nunap. After that we went to go get ready to go Akula, and when we got there, the hs girls had to get ready to play. When our games started, the Akula crowd started to get loud, and there weren't many people for Akiuk cheering:-]. When Danny made me go in to the game i started shaking, and I was nervous at the same time, but our games turned out to be great. The first quarter when we were playing, most of us girls were just sort of being lazy, but as time passed we improved. There was a few problems though. Renae started to make more fouls, and most of the girls started getting scrapes on their knees, or even bruises. During our half time, we were behind about 10 points, when we went to our room for a meeting, we prayed "Our Father". And when we went back out to play more, our points increased so much, and it felt good to be ahead. While we were playing the Akula girls pressed us more, and we had to work hard to make those baskets. When the time was to 10 seconds i got the ball and ran to make a basket, and i made it, but i was too late to throw it before the buzz went on, but it was a close one. It didn't really matter to me:-]. Anyways, we won the game, it was a close game, and we really needed to take showers, sweat going down our face, YARR!... :-)
